Welcome back to my blog!
Today we're going to be talking about camera angles, more specifically 3 of them. The high shot, the low shot, and the dutch shot. Let's begin!
 |
This is one of the most common shots used in both TV and movies, the high angle shot or just high shot. It usually has the camera above the characters or focus of the scene to make the characters seem insignificant or weak compared to whatever is where the camera's placed.
 | Another one of the most common shots is the low angle shot, or just low shot. Unlike the high angle shot, in this one the camera is at a lower point and pointed upwards towards the focus of the scene. Usually this is meant to emphasize power, and in this case we can assume that these two men are the most powerful or dangerous in the room.
 | The Dutch shot or Dutch angle is a shot which showcases a tilt in either the entire scene or how we're looking at a character. This is meant to create a feeling of uneasiness or tension within the scene. In this case we see a man with a baseball bat next to his head looking up with a dead stare accompanied with the dutch shot. With just this information we can assume what is going to happen next quite easily. |
